Had an email this afternoon to say Brittany Ferries are running ferries Portsmouth -Le Havre and vice versa, May to September, high speed, one boat a day. Might be worth considering. Prices seem similar to Portsmouth Caen.
e.g. July 15th One way, car, carava, 2 people and a dog £135.00 ( less 30% if you are in the frequent travellers club).
