Boat as a caravan?

I'm a sailor as well as a caravanner, and have an abition to tow a boat to Spain - Mar menor - through England and France for sailing holidays when I retire.

Has anyone seen or experience of trailing a boat, and using caravan sites for overnight stops. Security appears to the big problem (as with caravans) and I don't want to just park-up in laybys or hotel car parks.

Trailersailers are pretty much caravan "like", similar size, gas/electric/sleeping/portapotti. Pitch size and requirements are therefore the same. I can't be that unusual?? Cheers, Bob.
