Black Forest in June - book ahead?

Having done a few trips in France and Spain, where we learnt we didn’t have to book ahead in May/June, just wondering what the situation is in Southern Germany / Black Forest? Looks to be plenty of sites. Our preference is for larger sites with facilities (including maybe bar, restaurant) with at least EHU, if not fully serviced.

Are we likely to find such, and if so, do we need to book in advance or just turn up on spec?

Any site recommendations are welcome. We can only spare a round trip of 3 weeks or so, including any en route stops in France or Belgium.

thanks

Ian

In June last year we started our travels through NE France. We had wanted to stay at the refurbished Parc La Clusure but it had not then re-opened  We then entered the NL and stopping near Aachen not far from the German border. The site was packed as the Dutch where away in there droves making the most of the cheaper months. I'd pre-empted this as looking in advance it appeared if you wanted to stay on any site for a week or so you may have problems. If it was just for a few days on each you would probably be OK.

I'd definitely recommend booking ahead if you plan to be in Germany before mid June. There are school mid term holidays somewhere in the country (it varies from state to state) between mid May and mid June and some of these last up to 2 weeks, so things will be busy during that time. In some states there are up to 4 public holidays during that period, which adds to the potential problem, especially at weekends.
