Best Route to Dubrovnik

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from motorhomers who have experience of travelling to Dubrovnik. We're setting off from Calais in late May on an eight week trip with the aim of reaching Dubrovnik by the easiest, quickest, and most direct route (not necessarily compatible!). I'm normally only comfortable with doing about 250/300 miles in a day so we recognise that it could take us a couple of weeks to actually cover this 1300 mile journey! We would then like to have a week or so to fully explore Dubrovnik and the surrounding area before setting off back along the Croatian coastal strip before heading back to Calais. This should allow some time to revisit the Italian lakes and other venues before reaching Calais.

We've read a couple of good articles in the MMM magazine about Croatia generally and the stories give the country a positive report. The only problem referred to in some of these articles concerns travelling through Bosnia. I'm covered by my health insurance for Bosnia, but not by my motorhome policy, so it seems that some detour is required. Any recommendations for a suitable detour would be much appreciated.

We're not against paying toll/ tunnel fees if that eases the journey down there and any tips about the proposed trip would be gratefully received.
