Don’t know the Aire but know the area well. Looking at very positive comments on Park4night it seems a wine purchase in the farm shop would be a good outcome on both sides. I love a bit of wine tasting (part of the French experience) and almost always buy some wine from such places. If you enjoy wine you’ll be buying some anyway so it’s a win-win. Languedoc reds are generally very good and not silly prices.

Yes, we know the area so well and love Uzès. Usually drive in on market day but finding there is an Aire is great. From what I am reading it would be well to turn up the day before market day to be sure of a place. Sadly, for various reasons we haven't been to the area for a few years, but we'll make it our first port of call next month.

Do we enjoy wine.... ummm.. let me think....

Looks very nice and they produce three Rose wines, our choice in the hot weather.😀 Strangely enough, just before reading this thread I was looking at an Aire in Arles. Unfortunately although ideally situated, I ruled it out. The area alongside the Rhone looked rather run down and on street view (admittedly a moment in time, although looking rather permanent ) occupied by travellers.

Usèz is a nice town although parking can be tricky. I recommend staying at Bagnols-sur-ceze. There is an Aire in the town although I wouldn’t use it. We shall be staying at our usual site in about a month’s time;  Les Genêts d’Or. ACSI and right on the river Cèze.

Surely wine tasting is for tourists? I avoid vineyards like the plague.  Best value is supermarkets..

That statement suggests you’ve avoided them so well that you’ve never been to one!

We know some campsites we like in the area and usually drive to Uzès for market day. Having found the Aire I'd like to give it a try, just to be staying in the town for a change.

On the Cèze, we have stayed at La Vallée Verte as it's walking distance from les Cascades de Sautadet, but there is now a Camping-Car Park at La Roque-sur-Cèze, a village we love, even nearer the falls so we will try that this time.

What's wrong with the Aire at Bagnols-sur-Cèze may I ask? Just for future reference; we were not planning on using it.

The Aire in Bagnols is really a small extension to the car park. Enough said!

No, I have never been to a tasting in a “Cave” in 60 years of visiting France but have stuck my head in a few cellars/shops in Beaune and Fleurie. The wines seemed overpriced to me so I wasn’t tempted. Perhaps I am missing something?

I suggest lunch at Terroirs in the main square at Uzes - perhaps just a platter of cold meats and a glass or two of their local wine - either sit in the sun outside or sit in shade under the arcades depending on the weather. Ask the boss what he has chosen as his house wine - trust him because he has taste and style - and if you like it buy a couple of bottles of it in the restaurant shop, or note the name and go to the vineyard. But either way it won’t be cheap - and the supermarkets won’t have it.
