Thanks MnLatham that's very helpful. Did you encounter any snow on the A67/A62 ?

Hi Sailingman, no snow, it was a bit misty one day but we had no trouble. Roads were fine.

Hey BB, that does sound like a good trip, good on you and your missus.  And a new entry in the dictionary: “POOTLING”, can’t wait to try that.

When we converted from caravan to MH 3 years ago, gosh that soon passed!    We invested in a set of snow chains, but what a waste of money that was.    Too heavy to carry and experience of using the right roads means we don’t need them.

Anyway, Happy New Year and enjoy that fabulous trip.

We can’t leave until late Feb and will be spending the Spring in BP, so might bump into you on your way back!

Thanks WayTwoGo  I thought snow would be likely in Northern spain in Jan looking at the temperatures but don't have winter tyres on our MH and was wondering about chains particularly if they close the motorways and you have to use smaller roads.   Regio sounds a good site/stop in Salamanca if there is a bus into town.

Righto, Bill...ill post if heading back that way...

having 'sunned' and golfed extensively in the Algarve, we wanted to go back and revisit the area and to include Lisbon, Porto and other areas in the van with a bit less time constraint.

timing will dictate our likely route home...

Happy New Year, hope to catch up with you....

BB another thought.

When we were passing towards Albacete on our way south this year we made a small  diversion to see the village of Alarcon . If you can imagine yourself on the set of Thrones or El Cid this place is just magic. Take a stroll trough the village (5 mins) and have a beer in the castle which is now a Parador, its will cost twice as much as elsewhere but its worth it be served by a waiter and sit in the air conditioned loveliness of the restored castle. We used Camping Pantapino nearby, ordinary site but lovely friendly owner who conducted all his conversations via google translate. We also took in Cuenca much better known world heritage site but enjoyed Alarcon  more. We planned on two days and stayed 5

There is MH parking both in and out of the village BTW
