Unhelpful symbols

We motorhome and we are getting a bit long in the tooth.

In selecting a CL (which we prefer) or a CC site, we look for one near a pub, hopefully with food, and near public transport.

We find that the tankard symbol, (meaning that the CL is  on a pub site  or a pub is nearby) is misleading as "nearby" can mean anything up to a mile away in our experience. I do not regard this as "nearby", especially when it is cold and windy and you have to walk in failing light. While you might argue that this is a problem for motorhomers, it is also a potential problem for caravanners as it means drinking and driving if youcannot, or  are not prepared to walk. Why then cannot the Club state the distance between the site and the nearest pub? Surely this would be a service to all members and what we are paying for.

Similarly with the bus symbol, which indicates public transport "within1 mile". Again a mile is a long way in inclement weather. We have bus passes and so wish to use them to advantage.

In selecting a CL now, we have to resort to the Halfords website (to look at reviews and find if there is a site website), Google Earth (to find the distance to the pub) and local bus timetables (to get an indication of the distance to the bus route) to make the final selection.

How about it Caravan Club? A little help on these issues for the aged and infirm would be greatly appreciated
