Too much information

With the limited information available in the Site directory and CC's website I've got into the habit of using Google Earth and street view to locate CLs and learn more about my planned outings, Its great for  viewing the entrance to assess difficulties on approach and finding pubs and other amenities nearby, distances for walks and drives etc.

I have however just discovered the downside. We're away this weekend and I've got the task of finding a C.L. In the old days I opened the directory found a CL booked and set off and in all honesty have only had one bad experience in thirty years. Now I look on Google, show the partner, spouse or / and wife and she discovers all the perceived cons - narrow approach, rough terrain, pub too far etc etc. Sadly I think Iwe've missed some little gems.

Does anyone else find technology hinders their search for the perfect venue and should I revert to lady luck.
