Suggestions - within 2 hours of Durham

Hello all Smile

Sadly circumstances mean that we are probably only going to get about 10 days away in our little caravan this year at some point in August. We live in London but my caravan is at my parents in Durham so we're looking for a CL within a couple of hours drive or Durham (We often do South West Scotland but are looking for somewhere new this time). We don't need ehu and we have 2 dogs. We really like the quiet basic sites - does anyone have any suggestions please?

I haven't stayed at the one in Northallerton that you mentioned but I have stayed at a one called Spring Thyme not too far away from Northallerton which is a nice little site at a good price.

Agreed, we stopped there last year. It was fine for us.

Hello Athel.  I am just back from Grange Farm Bungalow in North Yorkshire Dales.  It was absoutely lovely.  Just a rather large field, extremely tidy (mowed 3 times whilst we were there), peaceful, with good walks in the area.  There is also a lovely tea room (Sunday lunch and Sandwiches were delicious either two fields over or 20 minutes walk by road.  Andy the farmer could not be more helpful.  We loved it.  There was a rally field nearby but no noise issues for us.  The only slight downside is the narrow lane on entry but if you look far enough ahead you would be able to see if another caravan was coming.  We loved this CL.  Whilst in the middle of nowhere, it was really near Scarborough and not too far from Whitby.

We stayed at a lovely one last weekend also Fearby Grange.  Tidy field with stunning views.  Just outside Masham in North Yorks.  5 mins by car into Masham or a nice 30 min walk over the fields.  Easy to get to off the A1.

Love CL's. We went to our first "proper site" last week before moving onto a CL for the weekend.  Whilst the site was fine, it is CL's for us all the way.  Solar panel was a good investment as in summer we save a fortune using basic CL's.

that one is also on my list for a future visit, I think we must have similar taste in cls.

We are the same Tracey, some little beauties for a fiver a night. Great in the Summer, and you often get the site to yourself, even  at the height of Summer.
