Sharing a holiday!

We love CL's, always our first choice when looking for somewhere to stay, and down the years we have shared visits on a few with like minded friends and family. This year we have been a bit down on our touring time away due to health issues, but we have come up with something great to enjoy for next year, and to solve a Christmas present dilemma for family member!

One of our relatives had a stroke a good few years ago, and needs help and adapted accommodation to enjoy a holiday. So, we have booked a couple of nights away at a lovely CL for us, and a couple of nights away for them in the gorgeous little cottage next door to the CL field! They can come across and join us in MH for a meal, we can go out in either our MH or their car, and our much loved relatives can still enjoy a break away in comfort and ease! There are lots of CLs that provide alternative accommodation alongside pitches, and just thought I would share this idea, and make others aware of just how easy it is to holiday with others, even if they don't have a van or a MH!laughing

You might like Abbey View CL on the outskirts of Whitby. It has holiday cottages in the adjacent barn conversion. Nice views as well. CL is grass but worth thinking about for drier weather.

Ah, I think we looked at that CL last Spring, but it was so wet they weren't taking CL bookings. I hadn't realised they did cottages as well though.

I shall be looking for a cottage for us two, Mum and Sister in Spring, need to go somewhere new though, a few too many raw memories for us all to cope with at the moment to go back to some of our favourites. I think North Wales might be interesting, we went there a lot as children, and so did OH. Dog friendly required as well!

I understand. One of the reasons why we try to keep it low key at Christmas. FIL passed away in the week leading up to it a few years ago.

Can't help with North Wales, even though we live there. Apart from short breaks to get the van ready for the summer we tend to CL outside our area.

We stopped at an ex CL which is now a small commercial site near Wrexham, which also has a cottage attached. We'd definitely recommend the site.  Here's the link, tda.

Have just thought of another CL with a Cottage for rent....Barrow Farm, Rode, Frome, Somerset. Can recommend the CL, 3 H/S + grass pitches on a small holding. Here's the link.

We've done a lot of 'holiday sharing' - initially with friends, some of whom camped and others stayed in nearby B & B accommodation. More recently we've shared with my sister and her family who have joined us on caravanning holidays when they slept in the caravan, and OH and I slept outside in a tent (which was actually great fun).

Even more recently our house in France has been 'the cottage' and we've decamped to our caravan  after a couple of nights, leaving our son and his partner to enjoy the house without us there!

Up North there are possibilities within the C&MC network. Hawes, Methop Fell for example have on site flats available to hire. Those luxury pods springing up on some sites may also be an answer.
