Peak District info

We're off to Blackwell Hall CL on Wednesday for 4 nights. Never been to The Peak District before so after some ideas. We're keen hikers so will definitely be doing the Kinder Scout walk from Edale but beyond this only vague plans. The Monsall trail apparently runs past the site so we'll hopefully do some of this.

Can anyone recommend a couple of places to eat (pubs or restaurants) and things to do in either Bakewell or Buxton?

Many thanks.

Yes, it’s a beautiful riveršŸ˜ We usually visit Bakewell round Xmas, for Monday Market, and to drop off Xmas presents. SIL lives there. I like Buxton as well, did a two year day release course at College there many moons ago.

Bells, if you fancy another visit, but a slightly different area, there’s a very nice CL called Splash Farm that is near Cromford. Some very nice walking, cycling and lots of interesting Industrial Archeology, including old canals, Arkwright Mills. Matlock and Matlock Bath are nice.

I definitely want to go back to The Peak District. It's great for an autumn or winter getaway,as a lot of the walks are paved or have good surfaces so mud and bog isn't as much of a factor as it is up here in NorthumberlandšŸ˜Š

I've made a note of Splash Farm and Matlock is on my list to visit next time so thanks for the suggestions.
