Non EHU CL in North England/Scottish Borders

We are trying to fit a last weeks holiday in soon but cannot decide where to go.  We are looking for a site within a maximum of 2 hours from Durham area.

Our requirements are fairly simple - Fairly flat ground (we are not great at levelling on steep slopes), nice views, quiet and dog walks from site (preferably woods so we can let him off his lead).

That's about it really.  I wondered if anyone would be able to recommend sites for us to look at as it takes ages to check on the search facility to see if sites are non ehu.

Tracey

it takes no doing using the site search. I've just done it for you in less than 2 minutes

Borders = 1 site

Northumberland = 3 sites

Just put in the county and leave towns and preferences blank. Then scan done the column looking for sites that don't show electricity and do your search with those

Thanks Harry, there obviously ins't many in those areas Sad.  When I checked N Yorks there were loads (which is good)  and by the time I had found the sites and checked reviews it took over 2 hours. Hence, I was hoping the good people on CT woudl be willing to share their gems which they think may suit our likes.

New Mains is in Reston about 4 miles north of the scotland/England border, you turn off the A1 then go through Reston village to the school take the left hand junction & about 1 mile at the end of the single track road is new mains farm, turn left at the farm the CL is just behind, as its a single track road good for dogs running without traffic, its also not far from Eyemouth coldingham Berwick for beaches, Just make sure you wave to the bin lorry if its recycling week as I will be driving it lol

We just did a couple of days at The Wynd near Rothbury (as well as 17 Boggs Holdings but you have already been to that one!). It is non-ehu but not sure how much of the rest of your requirements it will fit as we didn't spend much time actually on the site so didn't look for dog walks near by. It is right on the road which was quite busy at times but it wasn't too bad. We've also stayed at Bingfield Coombe a bit north of Hexham and enjoyed that one but again not sure of walks directly from site. Whickham Grange Farm near Consett was lovely too and we were able to walk the dogs off lead round the very large field the site is in. Whins in Dumfries and Galloway just over the border is also non-ehu and it took us under 2 hours to get there from Witton Gilbert - the farmer was really helpful pointing out which of his fields we could use to walk the dogs.

We haven't been to this one but have it planned for next year - Bennet Head in the Lake District sounds lovely but not sure how level it is.

My OH used Bingfield Coombe last year, full of praise for it. Not sure if it will be to your liking Tracey, but you could see if there are some economy no hook up pitches at Nunnykirk. This is a lovely No facility Club Site in a great location. Eco pitches are usually very cheap.

Thanks folks.  Your information will not be wasted as we look for different non EHU in our area throughout the spring/summer/autumn, however we have a change of plan for bank holiday weekend.  Our friend in Leeds has had a baby so we are going to visit her.

We are looking at Wescoe Hills Farm near Harrogate but there are no reviews.  I don't suppose any of you stay there.
