Monthly CL Opened List

In a few other discussions it has been asked if there is a way to see what new sites have opened recently.

All new CL sites are published in the monthly magazines, but these can appear a couple of months after the site has been opened.

I thought that it would be beneficial for all members and CL owners if we posted a list once a month of all CL sites opened the previous month.

We do already have the following discussion board for New CL owners to advertise their sites here, and I would encourage new CL owners to continue to post on that discussion as well.

I hope this will be of some use for you all.

Thanks

Maddie (and the CL team)

A question for Nellie -

Silverhay Farm looks like a great CL and one ( for us)  it might be worth rejoining for. However dogs are charged at £2 each -  would this remove it from your list?

I suppose as a new CL their occupancy results may well lead to a review of their pricing. However on the other side of things people can't complain that we have a shrinking network and them complain that prices are too high. The maximum that CL could earn would be £385 a week. Given the lack of facilities the actual take is in reality going to be much less over a much shorter season. If I were the owner I would start to seriously question whether it was worthwhile?

The CL at Hatton Mains Farm looks very interesting. It's in a lovely area with easy access to and from the A90.  Also convenient for the scenic Fettercairn to Banchory route B974 over the Cairn O'Mount.

Might not suit those who want an "All Singing all Dancing" CL with all the "bells and whistles". But for genuine touring members who enjoy the great outdoors, it will be absolutely ideal.

We know the Queens Arms quite well, and are very familiar with its location in Breage. Good location for seeing and getting about Lands End and especially Lizard area of Cornwall. Few miles away from Helston, very close to Porthleven. Some very nice walks close by, lots of NT coastline.

Dogs are not charged at £2 each, at least as I understand the prices on their web page. It says stays for pets £2 per night. Doesn't stipulate how many pets! Or what kind of pets! If it was me, I would be phoning up and asking for more details. And if they picked the grass up after mowing! laughing

There's better value CL within 5 miles!

Why ???

Hi All,

At present this is something the Club does not wish to do.

I will as mentioned previously bring it up at the next review. I appreciate all of your feedback and will use this, thank you for sharing them.

For now at least, we will have to remain using the Magazine updates. The Magazine is available digitally if you are out touring.

Thanks

Maddie

Sorry, Maddie, but that just sounds like a patronising reason, rather like a Parent to an errant child.

Yes it would, especially as there are other CL with similar facilities which are showing pitch prices of the same or less and do not charge for a dog. Cant's see how having a dog warrants an additional charge of £2 each. Perhaps it's a subtle way for the site owner to deter or at least restrict the number of dogs on site.

We've stopped at Pitrennie Mills, close to Laurencekirk too, which has both H/S, as well as grass pitches, and EHU and is showing a charge similar to Hatton Mains, which does not have EHU! We would certainly use Pitrennie Mills again, too.
