Loss of Deposit

Be aware that PJ & H Rogers of Cwmrath Farm CL will take a 50% deposit then on cancellation (with a months notice) have only offered a partial refund and only if they can resell the pitch.

My daughter and my wife and I booked two pitches at Cwmrath Farm CL for a week in September.  We were asked for a 50% deposit (each) so we sent £84 (£42 each) and received a standard letter confirming receipt of the deposit, but with no mention that it was non-returnable.  Due to personal reasons we have had to cancel our reservation and when we phoned up my wife was told that the deposit was non-refundable, but if they were able to relet the picth, they may return a portion of the deposit.

In my 20 years of caravanning on CLs I have never had an experience as poor as this.  A real bad example for other CLs.  We have spoken to the Caravan Club and ask that they annotate their entry in the Handbook to say "Non Refundable Deposits".  If this is their attitude before you get there I wonder what they are like when you are on site!  I will never now as I will never ever stay on their CL now, I recommend that others are warned as well!

Regards

Peter
