When I was on Skye recently the price of fuel was not much above the price in the Central belt.
For anyone with a motorhome there is a new "Aire" at Auchtertyre Farm, Balmacara, IV40 8EG for £10 a night including waste disposal. This could be especially useful if the site at Balmacara is full. They are both about 5 miles from the Skye Bridge.

We've been numerous times to visit the Isle of Skye and always use the CAMC site at Morvich as our base.
Someone mentioned earlier that there's a well-stocked Co-op at Kyle of Lochalsh but there's also one at Broadford on the island and the fuel prices there are cheaper than on the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh, Shiel Bridge and Lochcarron. There's also an Asda store and a smaller Co-op at Portree.
Although it's quite expensive for vehicles, rather than simply driving over the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, there's an easy and very rewarding alternative by driving from the Morvich site, just down the road to Shiel Bridge then the road over the Ratagan Pass to Glenelg. There's a unique turntable ferry that will take you across the straights to Kylerhea then the road to Broadford on Skye. In all honesty, if you're on Skye the rerturn journey has some spectacular views, driving down Glen Arroch to the Kylerhea Ferry.
