Gosford Farm experience

What would you do?  We arrived at Gosford Farm CL in Devon, having booked some weeks before, to find that there was no pitch for us!  There were already 5 outfits on site and no owner to help us.  We couldnt see where to go, so hooked up to the only hook up we could find.  The other campers were noticeably frosty.  Gradually we realised that we were on part of other campers' pitches! O dear.  When we spoke to the owner, she had no advice to give, but said 'stay where you are'.  Other campers got more unfriendly and we left, losing one night we had paid for.  Not a good experience.  Unhelpful campers and an owner not prepared to help.
