A pity that there is no “desirable skill” of being a camper of some sort. But at least it shows ongoing commitment to CLs

Does anybody know if it is a new job or they are filling an existing role?

I would think that much of the budget of £230,000 would be taken up with wages etc of those that are assigned to the CL section, 15 plus the expenses of 45 volunteer admin assistants.

I didn't get those numbers, Nelie. My guess would be 6 Administrators/Senior Administrators if employed could only be part-time because even at the minimum wage the budget would barely cover their wage plus social costs. Leaving a bit of out-of-pocket expenses for the 45 consultants/advisors (say £50k p/a). Then, where does the cost of the new post come from? A full time manager salary plus social costs would wipe that budget right out. I think someone is knitting with smoke!

I found the "looking for new business opportunities" item intriguing because CL's are independent businesses, so what opportunities could these be?  We have friends who are CL owners and the club do virtually nothing for them apart from list them in the book/website. Any attempt to require a fee or commission from CL's would probably be a very bad idea, as there are other organisations able to take CL's into their fold.  Perhaps that is the club's intention?

Club does take a fee from new CLs. They have to be Members, even if they don’t tour themselves. We have friends who have owned CLs for years, before the Club took a fee off owners. I don’t think all long standing owners pay a fee, but not sure nowadays. It usually states in handbook if a CL owner is a Member or not.

I would be surprised if the £230,000 included remuneration other than perhaps general expenses, travel for example, for the volunteer inspectors? It would seem to me that the money is the amount to Club use to maintain the CL network by means of communicating with CL owners, promotion of the network, any IT requirements, site directory preparation etc?

Perhaps a question for someone to submit to the AGM? The more questions the merrier. Remember you don’t have to be there, and although only a couple of questions are answered at the AGM the rest are answered afterwards.

Ive already submitted a question and I think you can only ask one.

Whatever it is used for, David, it is a drop in the ocean compared to the amount that the "club"  raises from the membership fees of CL owners snd those that exclusively use CLs, I'm sure.

I think the detail of the budget is of no great importance, certainly to us members. I am concerned that employing a CL manager responsible for "investigating business opportunities"  will be an attempt to interfere with, and to tap into, the revenue flow of CL's. Will CL's eventually have to be booked via the club booking website? Is this the question I should ask of the AGM. I had a look this afternoon to see how one would ask a question and was unable to navigate my way to it.

Obbernockle, re your description of the CL Manager role, it could have been designed with one particular person in mind. I’ll say no more.

CAMC have said this is under consideration for the future but judging by things at present on the  "new booking experience " it might be light years away.  😀
