We're looking to do a trip down to the South East and we're not at all familiar with the area. Could anyone recommended a few CLs in that region that would suit our requirements, EHU, preferably with H/S although not a necessity, that accept a dog and have a decent dog walking area/route close by. Thanks in anticipation.

Last year we stayed for a week at Little Halden Place Farm near Tenterden. We had originally booked in for two night whilst we took our Lakeland Terrier for sheep proofing at a nearby farm, (very successful!) but we loved it so much that we extended our stay to a week. There is so much to do in the area and Tenterden is lovely. It was a completely new area for us also, we shall certainly go again. We particularly enjoyed days out at Dungeness and the site of the Battle of Hastings.

Coo, brave you Nellie. Lots to see and do, just hope the traffic is kind.😁

OH want so go back to Ightham Moat and Bodium, and there are lots of others too. The problem is working out a route from the west to avoid the motorways,  the M25 in particular. We've not done much at all down there and have never stayed on a CL in either county.

Nellie , Vanbirds mentioned a site close to Tenterden and you said your OH wanted to visit Bodium . You can get there from Tenterden by heritage rail on the KESR  , a beautiful line with superb scenery well worth a visit.🚂🚂.

Meant to say the KESR is dog friendly , or certainly was the last time I took a journey on it a couple of years ago.😀.

Bodiam Castle is an interesting visit. So many fabulous places to see in SE. Can’t help with any sites I’m afraid. Only time I visited, did a week long coach holiday. Not usually my thing, but it was so relaxing having someone else fight it out with the traffic. Chartwell is a must see, very interesting, also Bateman’s, Kipling’s home.

We managed two sites a day on coach tour, staying at Brands Hatch. Lot of driving around, heavy traffic at times. We didn’t do Coast, which might be less congested. Our trip was a first for Just Go, they wanted lots of feedback, and I think some of the itineraries were altered to account for traffic. It was very enjoyable, and I would do it again.

 Hi Nellie.

We've been down a few times but have always struggled to find what we want, where we want it. We did have a super CL that we stayed at in Woodchurch near Tenterden but I noticed a few years ago that it had disappeared from the system so I was going to stay at Forge Meadow CL but it was one of those years that we had to cancel. Don't forget Sissinghurst which is in the area.

We've always tried to find a decent one near Faversham for walking near the Oare, You can walk around the perimeter of the nature reserve there with Flyte and it borders the Thames so good birdwatching especially if you walk out from the edge of town along the Oare estuary bank itself. We decided last time to settle on a CL near Canterbury but it's still a drive to Faversham.

Sorry I can't be more help but as I said, we struggle and have to compromise.

If you do stay at Tenterden then the Military Canal near Appledore will be good walking.

If you ever come back to Bodiam Castle and your visit is on a Tuesday, I’ll be there in my medieval costume doing the castle tours.  Might see you then, or any other CTers that pay us a visit. 😊

ps, That’s not me in my profile pic.
