CL Sites and Electricity

We are self contained in our MH. Why do we have to pay for electric when we don't need it. The MH has gas heating, gas fridge and LED Lighting. We can go for days without the need of electricity yet we are forced to pay for it. It just seems that the CL operators have realised that it's an extra income stream and worth putting in. It would be nice though to have a choice. £10 a night without electric might make us use them more often. This should also apply to Club Sites as well but they only seem to cater for the Caravans with their FULLY SERVICED water point on each pitch approach.

I don't use your motorhome waste disposal point or the dog walk. Why do I have to pay for them?  Because it's called all inclusive.

Q4, I can't tell you why CC do things the way they do and you'll find lots of threads on the subject of electricity and charging.

One thing that puzzles me is that you don't show as a member of CC in your avatar and, as CLs are for members only, I wonder what your experience of them is. Can you help our understanding of the situation, please?

Fair point Tinny, maybe Q4 pays £10 extra to use the CC sites & is then hoping to change the rules to recoup a couple of £'s on the lekky saving. Also perhaps sneaks in under the radar of CL's masquerading as a CC member. Then again there may be a simple explanation. I will wait with you & seeHappy

Fully paid up .. Wink .. Go and consult the CC instead of having a pop. Don't know why I bothered. Ask a simple question and get insults.

Q4, insults no, wonderings & questions from folk knowing  how threads like yours swiftly become battle grounds & a weariness that these threads appear so often yes. PD has been good enough to help, I for one thank Him for His patience.

Each CL owner decides what is to be included in their tarrif.  There are CLs which do not have electric bollards at all, if a customer does not want electricity they can use those.  The CC has decided that the tarrif includes electric.  Customers either accept this or find another campsite provider.

I hope I have answered your question in a polite and helpful manner.

Q4. It still costs money to install the infrastructure. Many still want EHU so it has to be paid for. I nearly opened my own CL. The numbers didnt stack up. If these guys dont charge what they do, they will go bust. We're lucky they do it for the pittance they get.

unfortunately for those like the OP who might like to select thise CLs not providing EHU, the search is incapable of specifically delivering this.....

it only has a 'positive' tick box for 'ehu'....

if you tick this, you get back sites with ehu.....if you dont tick the box it returns sites with/without ehu that match the rest of your criteria.....

i needed exactly this type of cheap non-ehu cl for a one nighter this week......had to wade through all the cls returned by the search.....then some weren't open (despite selecting open all year) and then prices were £10 and up and several miles off my chosen route.....

so i stayed in a pub stop over and used my site fee for my dinner that night.

no doubt when the 'new' system comes in, this type of search will be straightforward.....

Having a pop? No way. I asked a question as something is not right if 'Member' isn't showing in your avatar when it should be. You maybe the one needing to contact CC. I'll leave you to it.

Well done PD for listing the threads to save the OP searching out the info.
