Looking to spend a few days near canals around the Warwick area and would like to pick up cycle rides that use quiet roads and the canals around that area, Grand Union, North Stratford and Worcester and Birmingham canal. Anyone found a CL site that would be useful in that proximity?

Many thanks

Kathy

Have a look at the CL in Hatton where you are close to the famous Hatton Locks (near Warwick.) There is also a CL near Lichfield (Staffs) on the canal system.

The site near Lichfield is Kings Orchard Marina. Its adjacent to the canal, has excellent facilities and is an easy walk to a good pub serving food.

I've just checked the Warwick cycleway which starts at the station passing through Hatton and the old canal villages towards Solihull. An alternative site would be Warwick Racecourse.

I can confirm that the club's Warwick Racecourse site is suitable for a canal  a walk as we've done it from there. Another of the Club's sites close to a canal is Harbury Fields,nr Leamington Spa. The Cl at Hatton has no EHU, No.1660 in the Site Directory.

The Croft, Kenilworth is handy for Warwick, Kenilworth, Coventry and the canal at Hatton. EHU and toilet facilities on site.

A few cl's around the Southam area are right next to the canal.

Thanks everyone. We will probably head for the Hatton site. We have cycled along the towpath as far as Kingswood Junction from Warwick Racecourse so Hatton is positioned well for us to retrace our steps and go further north or pick up the Stratford canal.Southam is also good for picking up the canal towpaths, we did that several years back and stayed on a C&CC CL, lovely area.

Kathy, there are a couple of CL south of Stratford which I can recommend that can be used to link up the cycle trail that runs up into Stratford.... Meon View, Upper Quinton, No.1656 in SD, & Monks Barn Fm, No.1657. Both have EHU & some Hardstanding. Marston Edge at Lower Quinton, No.1655 is another close to the cycle way, but haven't used it ourselves.
