CL around Newark or Derbyshire Area

How far off a main route do you want to be? Which route you using home? Might have something to suit if you are using M1. You will need a motor mover though, flat pitches but most either have to be excellent at using reversing vehicle or a doddle with a mover. Ticks all boxes for dogs!

HI TTDA, We can come up either way but thought the best sites might be in Peak District/Derbyshire which would mean M1 I think.  However, we don't have a Motor mover and I'm not that great at reversing :( .  As we will be staying for a long weekend (Thurs to Sunday) don't have to be particularly near the motorway...maybe within 30 mins but flexible.

Well you might struggle to get onto individual bay pitches, but take a look. Splash Farm, under Matlock. 

The very reason I asked for recommendations, Splash Farm looks lovely.  We only have a small van so I think I can manage the reversing.  A strong contender for the last weekend of our main holiday...thank you.

It is lovely, with a small van you will be fine. Lovely views, plenty to see and do in area, including Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, great walks/cycle rides down Cromford Canal, quarter of a mile away. Pub in village, Woodlands Trust Bow Wood is next to farm for dog walking. Busy CL though, frequently all pitches are taken. We are going next in a couple of weeks. Easy to get to Bakewell, Buxton etc.. from here as well.

There is also Priestfield Grange Farm, Old Brampton, Chesterfield. All H/S with EHU & 2 toilets. Great dog walk across the farm's grass meadows all the way down to Linacres Reservoirs and public access all round them. Pub 1/2 ml up road, and not far from Chatsworth or Curber & Froggett Edges.

Another lovely option...thank you NtH.  We may need a few options as our friends are going to try and book to meet us, so we may struggle.  However, as not to far off M1, these are all good options for us for bank holiday weekends, even if we don't get in in August.

Crich Lane Farm in Wessington near Alfreton.

Two seperate CLs divided by the farm, all HS on one site though the other site had a couple of grass when we last stayed there.

If you are coming up the A1 instead then there is Skybarn farm just off the A46 between Newark and Lincoln. We are there at this moment.

I can recommend both, although Crich Lane Fm is not near water, and it's mostly lane walking from the site. Skybarn is one of our favourite sites. You'd have to travel to get to a river or lake but there is one in the Whisby Nature Reserve, a couple of miles from the site.
