Bristol Ballon Fiesta - recommendations?

Hi

Thinking about visiting the Bristol balloon festival next year. Has anyone been and stayed nearby? Ideally looking for a CL within easy reach. Not bothered about facilities except for EHU. Must be easy access as I get very nervous down long narrow country lanes.

Thanks all.

Whilst were on the subject of Baltic Wharf, don't get too hung up on the 3 months notice bit.  The City Council have realised that putting a primary school adjacent to deep water and a pub is not a good idea. They also recognise the value to the tourist trade that the club brings.

However against all of that, BCC is desperately short of money, so there is always the danger that they might want to capitalise on the huge real estate value of that land.

Fingers crossed. We locals with a little bit of influence will keep on fighting to secure that site.

Youve prompted my memory. The better half is a Bristol girl, and has a medal on display in the Museum. Must write to the council in respect of BW and its value to vistors and returning daughters of the city. It's not always about money.

Ok. Thank you one and all.  OH will not want the rally if there is no electric so I will try the CL mentioned by Keefy and also give Baltic Warfe a go but not holding my breath on that option.  Don't fancy getting stuck in traffic so will see what my options are. At the end of the day if I cant get a suitable location I will give it a miss...not the end of the world.

Good to get some valuable feedback though.

Thanks a lot.

...go on, give it a try......you will be right in the heart of the action, no busses, driving, queues etc....and its only a couple of days.....what's the worst that can happen to you?Wink

Brue is right the best way to see the Festival is on the Avon rally.

peedee

But Brue is wrong to appologise for the lack of ehu IMHO.

It is certainly an event we would like to attend one day.

No Esme, I wasn't apologising at all, I just said "sorry"  as I knew the OP would be disappointed. I don't need ehu for a rally and a short one like this is easy to manage. However there are a few who need ehu for medical reasons and you never know why people might ask about ehu. Smile

Actually if you really really want do something then the lack of ehu is no bar, and I am including medical reasons.

On the other hand there are those that think the lack of hairdryer for a weekend is a major emergency.  This is their right of course just don't think that there should be any compunction to apologise for it.

Looking at the Avon Rally web site, it looks as if you can book now.  Dont know if that is just a hang up on the web site for 2016 or if it is for next year.

Dearest wife will not do without her hair dryer, hair straighter...and microwave.  And believe me, you dont want to see her if she has been deprived of access to those implements.  My life would just not be worth living.
