Does anyone have a recommendation for a basic CL or CS to visit Chesil Beach etc?  I don't need EHU but would take it for the right site for a couple of nights.  Thank you.

Pippah, why don't you just use the "Search by Map" feature, and read the reviews of the sites close by? There are 13 CLs between Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport, too many to list. You should be able to find one to suit you among those.

A distance from Chesil Pippa but there are a couple of CLs in Chideock and you can easily walk to Seatown beach and the Anchor Pub on the coast from there. Chideock is between Lyme Regis and Bridport, nice village. As Nellie says there are others, have a look near Chickerell for the Chesil area.

edit...Chideock, Bridport, Doghouse Farm

Thanks both. I have searched but was looking for personal recommedations.  I know the area quite well having lived there in a previous life Pre 1976 or thereabouts for quite a few years.   I wasn't really into fossils etc back then.

Chesil wont be much good for fossils Pippa but Charmouth and Seatown probably have the best access to enjoy a fossil search. Hope you find somewhere. I haven't stayed at the CL I suggested but it looks ok when I've been down that way and the reviews mention a big dog walk field.

Thank you Brue I like the sound of that one.  Just back from a lovely but tiring day at Rosemoor what a beautiful place!

Ok NTH I notice with the other club how few up to date reviews there are for some CSs.  Also the newish CL I stayed in on the way down this trip.  I seldom write reviews for club sites but CLs definitely should get them.

I then moved to Mud Horse Cottage Stolford,. What an interesting place!  Apparently Jeremy Paxman was filming the ancient way of doing things that the CL owner did to get the fish.  I hope I catch the progress on channel 4.
