I cannot comment on towing with an Evoque.  However, I tow with a Discovery Sport and have been loaned Evoques when my car has been at the dealers.  The Discovery Sport's suspension is noticeably more refined (I believe that the Evoque's is still based on the Freelander's) and I prefer the driving position in the DS.  Additionally, the DS has a bigger and more flexible luggage area (mine has the seven seat layout).  A friend of mine went out to buy an Evoque but when he drove it was disappointed but.  He then drove the DS and bought one.

The Evoque boot is very small so if that matters i would go Disco Sport. The DS is also the more recent of the 2 to be launched and unlikely to be replaced or significantly updated for a few years yet. The Evoque is however very likely to be replaced late this year/early next with a new model and which is another reason I would choose the DS - unless there are deals to be had on the Evoque (unlikely).
