Outfit Matching - Membership/Insurance

I wasn't sure whether to put this under towcars or caravans as either would probably do, but here goes...

The CC has an 85% recommended weight of caravan to towcar (MTPLM to Kerb Weight) but they do accept that this percentage can increase. However, a caravan (MTPLM) weighing more than a towcar (Kerb Weight) is illegal (Forget what the manufacturer's Max Towing Limit figures quote..!)

You wander around any CC site and you can clearly identify illegal outfits (You've seen the large twin axles pulled by a Mondeo or 3d RAV4). You can also find them in some of the posts on this forum when discussing weights, etc.

So, here's the question, should the CC allow members on site who's outfitsare illegal? (and I'm not talking about shell suits or bright tartan trousers here Happy)  ...or even allow them to be in the Club?

As the CC also offers car insurance, do you think that they should check the car being insured against the member's caravan. If the outfit is illegal, does that affect the payout in the event of an accident? Does the CC have a moral/legal responsibility to say "Sorry - Can't insure these two, it's illegal"...
