My Vauxhall Antara saga

Firstly I'd like to say hello, so hello. Happy

Secondly to the title of this thread...If you have ANY ideas about buying a Vauxhall Antara...DON'T!!!

The automatic lights are on all the time so you have two on switches for the lights. The climate control wheezes more than me, with instant steaming of all the windows, not great in the outside lane of a wet M25! There are NO daylight running lights no matter what your dealer tells you and the clutch/gearbox is dreadful.

Those are just a few of the things wrong with a car that has so much potential. But my really huge gripe was today, when I found out that although I paid £645 to have a factory fitted towbar with 13 pin electrics to tow our Sprite Sportsyle twin axle 6 berth caravan, there appears to be no wire attached/working to run the caravan fridge!

So my wife phoned Vauxhall expecting an apology we'll have a look before your holiday next week..what happened next can only be described as UNBELIEVABLE! They don't fit the wiring to run the fridge becuase they assume that caravaners only drive ten miles away so don't need the car to run the fridge. Imagine my horror when they said that they could make the car run the fridge but it would cost me another £300!!!!

Now I could have sworn that I had paid to have the caravan wiring included when I had the 13 pin electric socket fitted...not so, you have to be a pshychic and know that they won't fit certain wires in a 13 pin socket and thankyou sir, that'll be another £300

I want what I paid for...how is the fridge going to keep cool all the way to the Ardeche in the South of France FFS!!!!!??? It won't run on the van battery, only the car when the engine is running, or it would had I been driving a different car.

I've had Vauxhall's all my driving life, 27 years, but no more, never again will I grace a vauxhall dealer with my presence when purchasing a new car...The Antara is the crappiest car in a long history of crappy cars. It struggles to pull our van even though the specs say it will tow two tons, the van weighs 1555KG so no where near over the two tons limit!

Rant over...for now, although there are many more reasons not to buy an Anatara. I hate this car with a passion, a real passion!

Now where did I put that bottle wine? Laughing
