Mayday Premium question

Our vehicle has broken down at Ramslade CAMC site and needs recovering back home.  We are booked on the CAMC site until Sunday and unfortunately nothing is within walking distance and we both have mobility issues.

It is our understanding that with Premium you get a hire car in these sort of circumstances.  I am not sure if they are supposed to drop off a rental car at the site for us to use for the next 2 - 3 days and whether they will allow us to use the vehicle to travel home which is about 200 miles distant.

We have never been in this situation previously so this is all new to us.  Can anyone that has been in a similar predicament advise?  Thanks.

I hope I'm not ging off-topic, but -

It sounds to me as if the system is saying the Adblu is too cold? Which in the middle of summer would suggest a sensor has failed or a wire has fallen off!

You are correct it is the difference in temperature between the tow liquids and the sensor puts the car into limo mode.  These emission controls are the work of the devil, but the consumer has to pay for them.

Just to add, we had to go and fetch the rental car from their depot which was about 10 miles away.  So had to get the bus, then the train and finally a very slow walk from train station to depot as both of us have mobility issues.

However we are now both home, caravan is in storage even though it suffered some damage while in transit (cable from recovery vehicle to caravan dragged on ground) and car is now parked outside home waiting collection to be taken to dealership next week.

Sorry to hear/read all of this.

As an aide, have you checked with your own vehicle insurance.  as you may have cover for a hire car when yours is in the garage for repair.

Only an idea!

Good luck with all

Thanks we are lucky that we have a second car so not need for a hire car while ours is in the garage.  Mayday / Greenflag collected it yesterday from our residence to take to the dealership.  Mayday paid for the first 10 miles and we had to pay the balance as the dealer is 62 miles away.

However I am querying the Dual recovery which states "If you break down on your way to a site, or during your stay and your car can't be fixed we'll take you to your destination and back home again after your holiday."

We broke down during our stay at Ramslade and our destination was Back of Beyond in Christchurch and then home.  Mayday could take us to Back of Beyond, but then we would need pay for the recovery from BoB to our residence in the West Midlands.  It was cheaper to lose the £365 we paid BoB than pay the recovery fee for car & caravan back to WM!

It seems that to us the Dual Recovery is badly worded or misleading? Maybe it is just us that are reading it wrong?  Just to add we cannot fault the actual service with the breakdown from Mayday as it was excellent.
