Matching service

Hi, just thought I would mention that the matching service on the club website is RUBBISH. I went through the details on the site for my car and it came up with the complete wrong weights for my vehicle. over 200kg out on the kerb weight of car and put me near to illegal towing. sent an email to  say this this was all wrong but guess what-never heard anything back from them as they know they are wrong. just to let members know, do not trust this service from this club.

I seem to remember that some of us more or less told you that the other day, LL, and recommended you did your own research. I'm glad you took our advice.

Just out of interest, how do you know what the correct kerbweight is? I don't know of any manfacturers that publish true kerbweight in the way it is defined in law and they are not obliged to anyway, so it would be interesting to know where you got your information from.

Besides, why would an incorrect kerbweight put you near illegal towing? I don't know of any law that is based on kerbweight requirements.

compass362 that's where I got the true info from. good site and accurate. lutz the v5 doc gives the kirbweight. tin wheeler I did take advice and checked numerous sites and all knew my car weights but the one site you think would be the true one was the most out and that's this club site. in fact the reason I was nearly breaking the law was that the match was given at 98% so another couple of kilo's and over the 100% match which everyone says  is illegal. or am I wrong on that as well.

The V5c gives mass in service, which is not the same as kerbweight.

There is no law that says over 100% is illegal. Until 2013 it was illegal on a Category B licence, but that restriction has since been dropped.

And we wonder why younger drivers haven't  a clue where they're  up to on what they can or can't tow.

MM. thanks for the young comment at 60. put a smile on my face. if that's what you meant. I am new to caravanning so these are the sites I look to for info but if they are giving the wrong advice then some people could be towing dangerously. they got my car so wrong and after sending them an email I have not heard back from them. I wonder why.

I'm not that far behind at 55 😉 but I meant those drivers that passed their test after 97 (or 98 😞) that are limited to 3.5 tonnes

spring chicken. haha. but don't you think that some of the older generation ( not all ) are the worst drivers on the roads.
