I have an Antara SE Nav  2013 that i am thinking of upgrading to a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

They seem more than capable tow cars and good family cars, so aside of MPG, (as i dont expect to get high MPG from a 3.0ltr V6), has anyone used these for towing and could provide any feedback.

Thanks

Mark

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee (2007) which is a superb tow car. I have been caravanning for 30 years and this is by far the best. I have had X-Trails and Freelanders but they do not come close. I have a twin axle Bailey Unicorn Barcelona (1835kg) which it tows with ease. Fuel varies from 22 to 24 mpg which is not bad for a 3.0 litre and caravan size and weight. Would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Just returned from 5days where there was 4 to 5" snow which it took in its stride.

Just ordered a Grand Cherokee Overland. Pre Reg with 27 miles on.

Got a good deal , so thought id take the plunge.

Nice ride and plenty of grunt so should be more than capable towing our Coachman 520/4

You'll love it, I have had the old shape GC (54 plate) for the last 6 years, drives and tows smooth as silk.

But now changing for something a tad smaller, new van is so much lighter.

Pick it up 3 weeks ago and what can i say, i am blown away.  Done just over 300 miles so far and it just gets better and better. MPG is a round 28, which is better than i was getting out of the antara.

Amazing car, great high driving position and loaded with gadgets.  Pulls with ease in all situations so far and only had it in Eco.

Air Suspension is great. we had Snow last weekend, so found the steepest /slippest hill we could find, stuck it Snow Mode and just drove as normal and it tackled the hill with ease.

Had a detachable Westfalia towbar fitted last week and its well out of site when not in use and the tiniest of slither cut out of the rear bumper.  The guy fitted on our drive, and stripped the whole back end off, rear bumper off and all the rear interior, so i got chance to see all the wiring and air cylinders and main structure. Solid

Cant wait to try it out towing, but not expecting any issues.

Really glad you are enjoying your car. They are an awesome vehicle, and surprisingly overlooked at times in this country. We think you get a lot for your money. If you get the chance, book into an off road centre and have a good play in it, absolutely stunning off road capability. There are a few good Jeep owner clubs out there!laughing

We have two Wranglers, one is very new, bit too new and expensive to play around seriously with, but OH takes the older one to an off road event each year. I won't let him do the extreme stuff, it's just too expensive, but it is fun watching others. The race is on in the evening round the camp fire trying to put back together what got lost in the mud! Great fun. Not too far from you lornalou, Parkwood off road site at Tong.  You can go round in Site vehicles, but I think they are LRs.

takethedogalong, checked on their website and looks great but 2 hrs away so a bit to far with disabled OH, plus with my luck i would do damage to the most expensive part on the car and be left stranded. would love to have ago though. cheers.
