hello all

i have had them all from range rovers to BMW X5 and nothing compares to a Jeep Grand Cherokee , after parting with my jeep commander ,the new grand Cherokee is the best tow car I’ve ever come across, none of the problems associated with suspension and transmission problems like with the land rovers or turbo problems with the bmw ,  or the low bhp  of the shoguns take my advice the jeep tows the buccaneers with ease , you don’t even know it’s behind you , awesome vehicle.

Has they say there’s only one jeep anything else is just a 4x4 , so true 👍

Banff,

I too have a great respect for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. But are they not now owned by Fiat?

If so,  I do have a problem with such a flawed Company ( In respect of tough build quality) continuing to produce such a great brand?

The big Jeeps under their traditional ownership, have always been great tuggers and also very tough.  But will that continue under Fiat ownership ?

They did own Ferrari up until 2016 sorry but fiat has worked with Ferrari from the 1960s and helped design the Dino

But caravans don't weigh over 3 tonnes ..... 😉

and as much as I'd like a V8 myself I recognise their impracticalities & their inability to pass a petrol stn.

You don't see many Ferrari's going off road (Deliberately anyway) or pulling heavy caravans!

As I have already said, - Jeep used to be a good tow vehicle, but what their new models, under the new owner will be like, remains to be seen.

Brilliant post. I have just purchased a 2 year old overland v6 diesel and with air suspension the most comfortable drive. not towed my 1800kg van yet but with comments like those above well looking forward to the experience. I believe the overland can pull 500kg more than the summit.

I believe you .... but why would there be a difference in towing weight?  I thought Overland & Summit were just trim levels. 🤔 I've considered one myself as a replacement tow car, but as Tiger implies, Fix It Again Tomorrow does kinda put me off a bit.

I wish i could tell you why MM but read on a review website somewhere. they used to be very unreliable years ago but thats on parr with the Land Rovers isn't it. most unreliable manufacturer on the road but them that have never had a problem would argue. Look at the recall for BMW? anyway, keeps the roadside recovery firms going. haha.
