I need your advice... please?

I have towed with various vehicles for over 36 years. For the last 15 years I have only ever towed with Range Rovers.  Today, just 2 days before I go away with the caravan, my Range Rover Classic has thrown a hissy fit and refuses to start, so I have arranged a tow bar to be fitted to my Mercedes E Class estate on Wednesday. As I haven't towed with a now modern normal car, what can I expect??  My Mercedes is Auto and has a petrol engine. Can anyone help??
