Hyundai Tucson 2015 - Happy to report...

First trip out this weekend with our new outfit, a Hyundai Tucson 2015 2.0 Blue drive NavSE (manual) towing our Coachman Vision 520/4 (c 1400kg).

I have to say I was highly impressed.  Towing up to the legal limit was effortless and it purrs along in 6th gear returning 31mpg on a combination of motorway and A road driving, including a big, long hill which I had to drop down to 4th due to slower traffic.  The car has tons of grunt and acceleration, which quickly allows you to join motorways easily, etc.

The ride was a little soft, but thats probably more to do with a relatively light loading on this trip.

The Tucson is a great tow vehicle, and has such luxuries as a proper spare wheel/tyre instead of the damned spacesaver, or god forbid, a repair kit.  The fixed swan neck towball doesnt interfere with the reversing sensors, and the reversing camera makes hitching up a doddle.  And the fuel economy is great too!

a fairly good match if you car is the 2 wheel drive 134bhp model is about 80% match. be careful of weight in the van as this will soon change as your vehicle is quite a light one at approx. 1780kg. these figures are not spot on by the way but very close.

yes, I wasnt too worried about it being over the 85% guidance as I have been towing for 30 years.  But thanks for the feedback.

xtrailman. thats about 99.8% tow match so you must be a very experienced tower but put anything extra in the van and you would be towing illegally surely. i was lead to believe the car cannot be lighter than the van????

100% plus is not illegal if you're still within the gross train weight (& car or caravan isn't over loaded)

It may be legal but is it wise?

That's Sergeant Wilson's line ...... wink

The question was about legality ..... not about being wise. cool
