Fuel Quality

Reading elsewhere on the web about the quality of fuel at the pumps. Supermarket against Esso/Shell/Texaco etc.

Apparently the tankers all load the same fuel (stock fuel) be it diesel or petrol, and then additives are added to the tankers load. It is these additives that gives better performance and engine protection.

Do any CC members have any knowledge or general comments and information about the quality of fuel?

I am changing my tow car at the moment and wonder if there is any advantage in paying more than supermarket prices.
