Discovery Sport Electrics

We have just replaced our 2018 Discovery Sport D180 with a 2021 D200.

We experienced no problems with the 2018 car or our tow home using a LR loan Defender, but after two tows the new one has developed some weird electricla issues. After towing we have experienced:

Key Fob not opening car, loss of all functions on left hand stalk such as headlight control, indicators and now washers. Headlights from auto setting default to dipped headlights and unabe to change. Can happen in middle of journey. On shutdown, daylight running lights come on and unable to switch off.

AA did hard battery reset which worked for a bit but fault re-occurred while towing.

Anybody have any ideas about possible causes? The car has been recovered to a dealer who recharged the battery and says it is now OK and delivered it home. I'm sceptical about that and wondered if anyone has had similar experiences or ideas of what might be at the root of it all.

Other than that it's a great tow car.

Sorry I cannot advise on the electrical problems but they seem common to the JLR products.

Had  lovely Jaguar XF Sportbrake and when it needed a towbar fitted the fitting somehow blew the electrics and it had to go to the main dealer who had it for 6 weeks until a fellow came out from the factory and did a hard reset of the electrical system.

Jaguar was replaced by our current Discovery Sport and I agree it is a good tow vehicle. You mention key fob problems, just do not lose one. We mislaid a keyfob and after a while I went to the main dealer to get a quote for a replacement key fob. I was quoted £1,300. It was £300 for a new fob and £700 for a new signal box to work the fob signals. Fortunately the missing fob turned up the next day, I kissed it!

We had a Discovery Sport (overall very reliable and a superb tow car) and once found it kept unlocking when parked. A friend had the same model and his tailgate sometimes open and closed when parked. Both were fixed by a software update. In my case I don't think the software was out of date, just having it reinstalled seemed to be the answer.
