When I was working the engines we used were delivering 2500 hp at 500 revs or less

Posted on 19/12/2019 16:51 by EmilysDad30mpg towing? Not a chance .... I can get 30 solo though 😂 But my tow car was bought with towing in mind, we have other cars for mpg & lower running costs 😉

Posted on 19/12/2019 17:18 byMy previous merc with a V6 3l engine gradually built up to 26.2 mpg after 8 years. The present E220 Estate has gradually climbed in 4 years from 26 until on the last trip just over 30. That was measured brim to brim over 2430 miles towing 1500kg and with the car heavily loaded and a roof box on

this ML350 is actually a little better on fuel than the R320 before it. The permanent 4x4 doesn't help its mpg. An mpg in whole numbers is good enough for me ..... and I've only ever done one rough brim to brim calculation that was obviously less than the display tells me.

Posted on 19/12/2019 09:14 by EmilysDadbut turbo petrol have been around for a while ... 30/40 years ... though they tended to be the sportier versions with turbos that took a while to spool up to speed. SAAB springs to mind

Posted on 19/12/2019 18:17 by LutzThose were the old turbo petrol engines that were tuned for performance only. Modern ones tuned for economy can easily match the bhp and torque characteristics of a diesel.
