A TOWBAR TO TRUST

I use a Skoda Superb to tow my caravan. I was persuaded by a towbar fitter in Leamington that the only towbar I could fit was a detatchable one because any other would disrupt the reversing sensors. Sadly I believed him and parted with £500. It is completely untrue. It has never once had any effect on the sensors, but it has caused enormouse problems. On one occasion it car became detatched from van, and on several occasions because it was so low to the road it caused the jockey wheel to unwind and bounce along the road. Also for cosmetic reasons the 13 pin socket was fitted so far under the car I had to lie down in the road to fit it.

Eventually I contacted TOW TRUST in Atherstone who manufactured the bar. This company is one of the NICEST, PLEASANT, HELPFUL companies I have dealt with for many years.

Firstly they adjusted the electric socket to make it more accesible but then after a long discussion replaced the tow bar with a flange bracket. They had NEVER had reports of such brackets causing problems on Skoda Superbs, and have fitted lots. I had to pay extra but not an enormous amount.

If you want a tow bar and you live within reasonable travelling distance of Atherstone go and see them they are FABULOUS.
