We own a 2005 2.2 diesel xtrail that now has 187,000 miles on the clock. We are looking at replacing it with a 2016/17 1.6 diesel xtrail. The torque and hp figures are similar. We own a 2005 lunar solaris 1 van. I know its slightly over the 85% recommended match, but as an experienced hgv driver I have never had any problems. We wondered if anyone has experience of this vehicle for towing before we splash out. Thanks for reading.

From various posts over the years the general opinion on engines is that a 1.6 doesn't have the guts for towing satisfactorily, however someone with experience of the exact car may come on.
