Storing an awning

We only use our full awning  very occasionally.  I used to store it in the house loft but not for years now.  Generally it's in the caravan on the floor and gets transferred into the garage when we go away.  It's a bind really.  I was thinking of getting a good plastic garden storage box.  It would need to be mouse-proof and moth-proof as well I suppose.  But is it a good idea?  Has anyone done this, successfully or otherwise.  I would need to spend about £150 so a not insignificant sum.  I don't want to spend that and end up ruining the awning.
