I recently passed a motorhome with a small wind turbine mounted on its roof .

As a keen Solar user does anybody have any experience of them ?

Not in connection with caravanning etc - but shied away from them on boats because of the noise / vibration and limited output but they might have improved since then. There is also a potential issue with where they are mounted because of the danger of being hit by the blades (but on a roof should be OK).

They are also quite pricey compared with solar and output is probably more variable than the steadier winds available on a mooring. Can't see them as an option myself unless you had a semi-permanent installation on a pole on a beachside seasonal.

With  direct  drive  to  the  water  pump  it  could  do  away  with  fan  belts  then undecided !
