We have the standard version of this in our motorhome without the visual signal indicator and I am wondering whether to swap it over for the version with the indicator. Anyone have any views on whether its an improvement? I do have an App on my phone show directions to the various transmitters but even that can be a bit hit and miss!

it's definitely an improvement on the previous incarnation ..... the led goes from red through to green depending on signal strength. It's not bomb proof though, when were away the other week I struggled to get a picture using the led & in the end just pointed the aerial the same direction as the CL's farm house's aerial. Viola!

Our last van didn't have the LED - but the current one does and I have found setting the aerial up, so much easier.  In the past I used the Aerial Aligner App on my phone but didn't find the compass bearing it gives very reliable.  I still use it, though, just to check whether it should be vertical or horizontal alignment.

When we used one, we did find that it helped quite a lot with aerial alignment. Long since when we’ve moved over to streaming, though it has to be acknowledged that internet coverage via mobiles isn’t always good.

Thanks for the feedback. In the past I have been inclined to look where the aerials on houses are pointing as a guide, assuming there are houses to look at. Looking at other aerials on site can be confusing as they are often pointing in all sorts of directions!!! On our last motorhome we had a satellite dish which was easy but our current motorhome has a Vision Plus aerial. Recently we have been having a few reception problems and I just wonder if upgrading the amplifier might improve things. Its not a kings ransom so I think it will probably be a worthwhile change.

Re upgrading your amp. The adage ‘rubbish in, rubbish out’ seems to be partly true. I think that a marginal signal might improve, while a weak one can’t be. Our Avtex TV was pretty good at improving noisy signals, more so than the status aerial amp we always thought. Leaving that TV at home and switching to internet streaming gave us a wholly digital signal - when it’s working! It’s a bit of an ‘all or nothing’ situation. To be honest though, we’re not big time TV viewers when we’re away. What does leave me grieving is when I can’t read my morning online newspaper because there’s a poor data signal. This year, we’ve exploited Apple’s dual SIM capability which gives extra choices with network coverage. The phone is then tethered to a pad or laptop. Failing all, I need to catch up on my reading.
