TV + DVD

The Avtex  is a 12 volt TV that can be powered from a 12 volt socket or from 240 volts, using the supplied transformer. The viewing angles are exteptional, however it does come at a cost. The small 16 inch model we purchased for use in our MH has a DVD and comes with both terrestrial and satellite tuners, so no need for any extra boxes. It is also extremely light at just 1.6 kg. We power it by the 12 volt socket all the time as it is more conveniently located. It is also able to supply power to the aerial antenna, which is necessary to use the whip aerial on our MH. For us that gave it a distinct advantage over some cheaper makes.

The 16 inch model was £299. Other sizes are available.

Just been checking, and it seems that these combos don’t have a blue ray DVD player? I normally get hand-me-down DVD’s from the daughter, and they’re always blue ray. I wanted to keep the box count down, but it’s looking like I might have to get a separate DVD player.

As we always use EHU, we bought an ordinary telly with a slot for DVD, from Tescos.  Far cheaper than a 12v one and serves our needs well.  We paid about £130 for it at the time, but we've had it for a few years now. We don't use Blu-Ray, and usually manage to leave DVD's at home.  We only buy DVD's when we're on holiday....

We just take 26" SMART JVC and a memory stick with our 50 gig wi fi.

Never really watch that much but it's there.

We don’t watch many films. It’s just for those rainy days when there’s nothing else worth watching. As for WiFi, my own experience with CC WiFi doesn’t instil me with confidence, unless I’m missing something? Anyway, dvd’s are easy 🙂

Same as DSB above.  Just an ordinary telly/DVD player combined from Tesco.  Very compact and perfect for the job.  As David says - around £130 about three years ago.

I got an LG tv. have Netflix at home and my Mifi contract allows me to use Netflix wherever I am and doesn't come of my download limit so no need for a dvd player, separate or built in.

Hiya. A tv/dvd would have been ideal, but as far as I can tell, they won’t play blue-ray. Anyway, just been out and bought a 24” JVC and a small blue-ray player (Panasonic).

I'll just add that we just bought a TV/DVD combo from Tesco/Argos/Wherever and its great. Before a long trip abroad I visit our local charity shops for DVDs and store them in a locker. Currently got about 20 unwatched ones. 

Most cheap supermarket and amazon TV / DVD combos are actually 12V anyway, supplied from the external transformer (just flip one round and look at the power socket on the TV).

I paid around £100 for our 22" TV/DVD with PRV recording / USB stick function and for an extra few pounds made a 12V supply lead for the 12V socket to use off grid (just make sure you get the polarity correct).
