After just 18 months use the small rubber sealing ring round the water inlet trigger has failed. It is a simple job to replace it. But I had to buy a replacement in a little polythene bag for £8:50. There were 4 in the bag. Two the correct size and two slightly larger. So I now have one spare. But £8:50 for two small rubber rings!! I'd hoped the dealer might have had a rumage in his spares box and give me one f.o.c.

It is not just Truma...Dometic are as bad!Simple tip to make o ring last longer.....petrolium jelley or silicone lubricant applied sparingly every now and again.

I was advised by my dealer that whilst petroleum jelly was OK for this application, silicone lubricant was a 'no-no' because it can contaminate the water supply and make it taste 'orrible.

If we are talking the O-ring around the end of the trigge5r section then, in my experience, the dealer is wrong. A smear of silicon at that point does not affect the water. On previous caravans I have used it for at least 15 years. We visited at least 130 sites over a 6 year period incidentally and have never had a problem with a ring failing or tainted water

Thanks DD and Easy - Just one more piece of duff info from dealers then. I always carry a can of silicone spray in the van, so I'll use that (sparingly) in future if necessary.

as I said....sparingly.You may struggle to find the correct dimensions in the assortments sold by Lidle and Aldi (I have tried them)

That's why they were cheap; although on second thoughts perhaps they weren't. surprised

When my pump started leaking at the inlet port on the side of my 'van I took the 'O' ring off and got a freebie from my local garage. Job sorted!

Mind you I did know them and used their service for my car.

Truma do seem to know how to charge ..... My 2nd hand caravan came with one of these in a drawer. No idea why it was there as my movers are Powertouch, but how the hell do they arrive at that price for a 7mm T bar  socket? You could buy half a dozen 1/4" drive sockets sets for that money.
