Snipe Satellite

I have just bought a Snipe Satellite kit which I will initially use as a mobile unit - probably on a small table. Mine came with a base mounting kit so it could go on the roof of my van (Lunar Clubman SK 2014) and now I'm wondering if that would lead to warranty problems.

Any ideas on a reasonably priced company to do the installation?

Is it something I could tackle myself?

I talked with a fellow member who had one. He had fabricated a sucker base plate for his roof. Put this and 'dish' though his heki once on pitch.

If you are going to permanently mount it on the roof I would talk directly to Lunar as there might be a "best" mounting place. Although not a Snipe I had my satellite dish fitted at Road Pro in Daventry who did an excellent job. I am sure I saw a Snipe in their showroom.

I suspect the answer will come down to whether or not the roof construction is of a fully bonded type which thus could most likely hold the mounting or a “floating” outer covering that without further internal fixing can't?

My route would be discuss it with Lunar directly.

I have one and have a small acrylic table that I can bolt it to I then srew peg the table to the ground. This gives me flexability re postioning the dish also a degree of secority.

I'm still checking with Lunar but I'm leaning toward a mobile use since that might be easier to avoid obstacles such as trees. The unit comes with about 10 metres of cable and, as suggested above, I could pop it on to the roof through the skylight. The unit (boxed) weighs about 18 kg so might best be transported in the car when we are on the move.
