Screw in Awning Pegs.

Years ago I bought a packet of 160mm M10 bolts from ToolStation, I think they were £1.60. Used with my Impact Driver I've never found anything that I couldn't get them into and that includes old tarmac/stone at the bottom of a quarry. Taking them out is a matter of seconds. Best money I ever spent. No bruised knuckles for me.

Hi Paul, I use Screwfix Turbo Coach Screws zinc plated and around £12.50 for 10mm x 160mm 50 Pack

I have used them for 5 years and they have not corroded or been damaged on CMC hardstandings! I use a 18v drill and if it is really difficult - hammer action!

Stainless Steel penny washers stop the lines coming off.

You will need an adaptor in the drill.

Toolstation have M10 x 150  at £1.87/10 and M10 x 200 at £2.86/10.

An alternative to using penny-washers is to use wing-nuts upside down. These would need to be M12 to fit on an M10 coachscrew.

If you go and buy the pegs (why would you when coach screws do the work) but the pegs have the drill adapter in the pack. 

Ah,  Pippah,  if  they  are  old  D-I-Y-ers  they  possibly  have  a  suitable  item  in  their ,  probably  dusty,  Socket  set  !

If  you  collect  the  Bolts  in  person,  j100bba,  just  ask  the  Man/Woman  behind  the  counter  --  you  can  check  it  before  you  leave  their  premises  !!

Better still.......ditch the awning  

If we had properly drained grass pitches we wouldn't need rock pegs & sledge hammers to peg out our awnings.

They are M10 bolts so have a 13mm hex head. Any adaptor needs to fit your drill and then into whichever size square drive the 13mm socket you intend to use has.

Mine is easy as the impact driver is 1/2" square drive and so is the socket I use, means I can just use the 150mm extension that came with the socket set.
