Replacing a caravan microwave

I have a 2015 Bailey Unicorn 3 Barcelona. The factory fitted microwave is a Daewoo KOR-6N7RS and it has stopped working. I have two main questions which I would like help with. How do I remove the existing microwave which is fitted in a high level cupboard. I presume that the fixings are underneath the micro since I can see no fittings at either side or above.

Second question. As long as I keep to the same outer dimensions, wattage etc for the new micro, can it be any make or is there something which makes the existing one a specific fit for my caravan. Ideally I would rather not buy another Daewoo.

Any low wattage will do , Its just an excuse to charge more if they specifily for caravans . Have you checked the wiring to microwave first ?

I agree. A replacement Daewoo will cost £142 from dealer but I can buy a Panasonic with an additional year warranty for £70.

I will replace like for like re 800 watts. Wiring and fuses on old one is ok. Microwave bleeps continually when power is switched on but nothing else works. The Daewoo manual and customer service line is no help.

One problem that has been advised with  builtin  microwaves is lack of ventilation which can cause premature failure, but any make of microwave will do,  but small  is good to give more  "air space"

Give a Bailey dealer a ring  they wil have had to replace some so will know how to get it out

I had to replace the microwave on our previous caravan, a 2008 Bailey Senator. From memory, I took out the screws that hold the microwave retaining bar in place. These were located in each side panel. The microwave itself was held in place with screws underneath the cabinet.

This may or may not be of use as our caravan is a Lunar but we also had a problem with our microwave and needed to remove it. I couldn't immediately find how the fascia bezel that helps hold the microwave in place could be removed. The answer is that it is partially held in place by screws for the hinge in the adjacent cupboard. The screws are far longer than would be expected and go right through into the edge of the bezel. This may be how yours is also held in place.

There are four screws roughly under the shelf that the microwave sits on but no sign of screws retaining the facia at the front of the microwave base. Will give it a try.

Problem fixed. I purchased a Panasonic microwave for £70 from Argos. Same dimensions, wattage and capacity. This is less than half the price the dealer wanted for a like for like replacement.

The old one was removed in two steps. Four wood screws underneath the high level shelf releases the microwave which sits on a shaped plinth. This plinth is fixed by four screws to the metal  base of the microwave.

Because the replacement micro has a slightly different profile base  to the old one, I had to drill four new pilot holes through the plinth before re-attaching it to the base of the micro. I used a depth stop when  drilling 4 very small holes into the base of the micro before re-attaching the plinth.  I was relieved that no side panels needed to be removed at any stage.

Thanks for all helpful comments.

Can you remember if it was the Panasonic NN-E28JMMBPQ that you fitted as this seems to be approximately the same size - just 1cm deeper.
