New Aquaroll and Wastemaster Economy

I've just heard that F L Hitchman have released a new version on the Aquaroll and Wastemaster, which they have labelled 'Economy'.  The same size as the traditional 'grey' Aquaroll.

The difference is that they are made from recyclable material.  The spec says that the 'walls are thinner'.  Although this could very well mean they are less substantial and I guess may very well mean that content may freeze more easily in the winter, I wonder if the items are much lighter?

I have sent them a quick email with regard to the weight so will let you all know when I get a reply.

Although, I'm guessing the difference in weight may only be small, the small user payload we get and the increase in the number of 'failed axles' - the caravan manufacturers telling us it's because of overloading- might mean that when the time comes to replace1 the aquaroll and Wastemaster, it might just be worth a look.

I'll post up as soon as I get a reply from Hitchman.

P.S. they come in new course too..... laughing

Sorry about the gobbledygook word in the middle smile.

I know what you mean Alan.  Perhaps that is why they are introducing them.  The old ones had a 10 year guarantee.  These Economy models just have a 2 year guarantee, but they are a little cheaper - but not much.

I guess they might be useful for someone starting out from scratch.

We've had ours for about 10 years (Our previous set got stolen with the caravan).

I think the problem for the manufacturer is that they make such a robust product in the original Aquaroll and Wastemaster that there is not much in the way of repeat business! I can't remember how long we have had ours but we must be talking 20 years if not longer. We have even continued to use the Aquaroll with our current motorhome but our new one won't that the same facility to use it so it will go into retirement and probably sit in the shed like the Wastemaster has for the last 6 years!!!

I still have one of the first where they put the tyre on the roller not the offset frame! I expect if it had been the earlier one it would be a collectors item these days?

I have a slightly more modern one we use, as the original was not designed for submersible pumps, but that still well predates the side fill type.

Yes, I agree they did not make them a throwaway item, well not up till now.

So much for reducing plastic pollution. How many new ones are going to end up in landfill after a few years when they split?

Looked on Jacksons of Old Arley website. Older version with 10yr guarantee £50. Economy with 2yr guarantee £45.

Can't say that I would get excited to save £5 to but what warrants to be an inferior product with regard to lifetime
