We have after 3 years, have at last, given up with this awning.  It suffered damage in Storm Ali last year in Scotland.  It was the first awning on site that gave up, and that was before the Storm had really got going.  It suffered damage, having ripped away at the beading that feeds through the awning rail.  Owing to OH being taken ill, it was thrown in the garage and ignored until this spring.  It will cost money to repair, and I vetoed that.  However, we didn't want to spend vast sums on another awning, so went onto good old Ebay and bid for a Bradcot Classic (traditional awning) and got it for £169.  Used it last week in Dorset.  Timed how long it took to put up and it was the same time it too us to put up the blow up Vango.  More than happy with our purchase.  So, a trip to the Municipal rubbish tip is now on cards.  Goodbye Vango.  You won't be missed.

Last year we bought a Walker Weekender 240 - like a full length awning but without the front.  The idea was to be more flexible for short stays in France.   So we decided to take it away last September for a trial run in the UK.  It has steel poles, and we were embarrassed to need help in both erecting and taking down - help came when we were obviously in trouble.  Perhaps, in our 80's, it was a bit ambitious to take on this canopy.  So we will be sticking with our Isabelle Magnum porch awning - at least we can still manage that without fellow campers having to come to our rescue.

Obviously, this Walker canopy will be going on eBay (or similar site) and is going to be at a considerable loss.  Ah, well!
