Does anyone have a Fire Pal in their caravan?  I'm hearing some good things about them for Motor Homes, but not too much for caravans?

If they work in a motorhome I can see no reason why they would not work in a caravan.

The web site says that they are suitable for all types of fires with no clean up, so seems perfect if you really want to stay inside the van and fight the fire.

Write your comments here...After doing a bit of digging it appears the product has no British Standard Certification so think I'll give it a miss.

They are aerosol extinguishers- as in they generate a fine aerosol. They (as fixed systems) work very well on fuel fires in enclosed spaces- such as boat engine rooms- but only work on Class B fires (liquid fuels). They have no cooling effect, so are useless on Class A (solid fires- wood, paper, textiles, etc.). They are not certified to BS EN3 for good reasons. Interestingly they state on their website "they are suitable for all fire types" but then show no notification for class A, which is absurd (considering most fires are Class A...!)

A £8 1kg dry powder extinguisher from Lidl (currently for sale) which has a rating of 5A/34B and has both EN3 and SOLAS MED marking (amongst others) would be ideal- or a 2 litre AFFF (foam spray) extinguisher if you are concenred about loss of visibiliity/mess in a confined space (I note the CC now recommend AFFF, though this comes from their interpretation of BS5308-8 which applies to commercial building specifically).
