Caravan Covers - zip fails

I recently pulled my caravan out of store to give it a check over and then be ready to go if a weather spell looks fine. Having got it ready I took it back to storage. When I attempted to put the cover back on I found that two of the zips had failed. The cover was four years old and the zips not actually that much used but to be fair that's a lot of months outside. I have now ordered a new one.

Now my question. Is there anything others have done or would recommend to prolong zip life. Internet searches suggest Vaseline, candle wax, olive oil etc but I would love to hear from anyone who has actual experience. Thanks.

Don't use anything wet such as oil, vaseline etc as they will attract dirt and grit. You need to stick with a dry lubricant such as PTFE spay. I cannot comment on the Beaver Aquawax, but it obviously does a good job.

I always used the silicon spray for toilet cassette seals on our Fiamma roll up awning zip. Seemed to work OK. Although wet when sprayed on, the liquid element rapidly evaporated.

I have used to good effect on the zip of my Fiamma bag rollout canopy Pledge furniture spray, in the absence of anything better. Improved the movement no end and I suppose the wax content helped weatherproof it.
