CADAC Carri Chef 2

I replaced the black enamel 'drip tray/ring' and flat/ridged non stick plate on our old cari-chef of similar age, all the parts were still widely available and it made it 'like new'.  As long as the blue base/burner part is OK everything else is replaceable at way less cost than a new unit. 

I prefer the design of the older version, the metal diverter and bbq grille just need a quick wire brush/wipe over between uses, but i haven't used the newer design in fairness.

My Cadac is a couple of years old and the piezo ignition has never worked properly despite installing replacement factory parts. Not sure if I’m just unlucky or it’s an inherent problem? Otherwise very happy with it.

I bought a Cadac Safari Chef 2 in February 2019 At the NEC Camping show  based upon all the good reviews it got.

For various reasons I did not use it until a trip out last September and on the third occasion I tried to light it the piezo ignition failed to work. For the remainder of the holiday I used matches to light it.

I assumed that there was a 12 month warranty and as it was outside of that period I did not do anything about it and put it down to bad luck.

It was only when reading Seaside Bills problem that I checked the Cadac website and discovered there was in fact a 2 year warranty.

As of today 21.02.21 I am one day inside that warranty limit, as it is Sunday I can't telephone to make a claim so I have sent an email.

It will be interesting to see how good or bad their Customer Services are.

I use mine frequently. It's the Carri Chef 2 and is 2 years old (not sure if this is still a current model?)

Lots of people on forums complain about the cleaning of them, but to be honest, I just use an old wooden spatula and kitchen roll to clean away any 'residue' before further usage. I dont see the point of cleaning it after every use and the heat generated kills any undesirables anyway. One big clean before it gets put away is all mine gets - and I'm still breathing!

I do find food cooks better on the lower setting without as much 'charring' and the only time I did a roast chicken (with the lid on) was superb

Hi, we've owned a Cadac Grillo Chef which has been good. That said, I bought an electric Teppanyaki hotplate for my birthday which has proved to be a big hit. It's very easy to set up (you just plug it in), incredibly easy to clean and does a great job at cooking. We haven't packed away the Cadac but rarely use it now we have the Teppanyaki. They're much cheaper to buy too

Thanks for all the feedback certainly something for us to think about as I said our own Cadac does work fine just felt last year it maybe wasn’t working as well as it used to.
